As one of the first independent Austrian private equity funds, Lead Equities was incorporated in 2001. In order to accomodate the growing demand for intelligent capital for lower mid market companies, fundraising for a maiden fund totalling EUR 49m was completed in 2002. Subsequently, investment activity commenced in 2003.
After having successfully invested in two Austrian companies, Lead Equities completed its first in a German company in 2004. By 2006, four additional acquisitions as well as twelve bolt-on acquisitions had already been completed.
As a result of the success of its maiden fund a follow-on fund totalling EUR 66m was raised in 2007. Furthermore, Lead Equities is the first Austrian fund who managed to win the European Investment Fund, a subsidiary of the European Investment Bank and Europe‘s leading investor for SME‘s, as one of its cornerstone investors.
Since 2007, Lead Equities has successfully added three companies to its portfolio and also managed to bolster those via nine add-on acquisitions.
